Team overview
Hobart Hurricanes at a glance
Hobart Hurricanes are Cricket Tasmania's men's Big Bash League team. Founded for the competition's 2011 launch, they represent Hobart and the wider state in purple, with Bellerive Oval—currently branded Ninja Stadium—as their principal home.
The Hurricanes finished third in the BBL|15 league stage with six wins, three losses, one no-result, 13 points and a +0.331 net run rate. They beat Melbourne Stars by three runs under a rain-adjusted DLS chase in the Knockout, then lost the Challenger to Sydney Sixers by 57 runs.
That Challenger run followed the club's first championship in BBL|14. Hobart had previously finished runners-up in BBL|03 and BBL|07 and led the league table in BBL|08 before a semi-final defeat. BBL|16 gives them four Hobart home games and one Launceston home game.
Ten-match BBL|16 schedule published
Hobart open at Ninja Stadium against Brisbane Heat on 17 December 2026. Nine domestic players are explicitly contracted through BBL|16 or later; the final squad has not yet been published.
