Canterbury Kings at a glance
Canterbury Kings are Canterbury Cricket's men's T20 team. The same provincial men's programme competes as Canterbury in the Plunket Shield and Ford Trophy, so those competitions are acknowledged here without mixing their scores into the Super Smash record.
The Kings placed third in the 2025/26 league stage with four wins, four losses and two weather no-results. They beat Auckland Aces by nine wickets in the Eliminator, then Northern Brave chased 172 to win the Hagley Oval Grand Final by five wickets.
Canterbury won the inaugural national T20 championship in 2005/06. The 2025/26 defeat made them runners-up for a sixth consecutive season. Peter Fulton left after the domestic one-day season; Canterbury's current staff page lists Brendon Donkers as acting men's head coach.
